Amplify

One of the fascinating exhibits at the design museum featured “Amplify” created by Yves Behar. Amplify is constructed with new age materials such as led lights. Its design creates a refractive light which simulates an incredible elegant lighting effect using Swarovski crystals. Behar has the ability to unite the art of light with the business of light. The uses of an Amplify product will have endless possibilities if brought to a mass market.

Since the first light bulb was created, there has been a demand for synthetic light. There is serious money making potential if Behar patents this technology and brands it. The brand would be highly recognizable if marketed the right way.

Amplify can be crucial to the strategic planning of a company. Business owners and marketers are always looking for a competitive advantage over their competition. Amplify can be that advantage. Led lights make it efficient, and brilliant design makes it unique. In Ansoff’s Opportunity Matrix, Amplify would fall under product development. The market for this product already exists, and Amplify would better fulfill the demand than other products currently being sold.
Three segments of the synthetic lighting market that can be targeted are club owns, bar owners, and restaurant owners. Club owners and bar owners tend to create a low light atmosphere for their patrons. Low light mixed with alcohol and music has the ability to evoke certain emotions. A potential problem for clubs and bars is lack of originality. Since there can be many bars and clubs in close proximity, originality is what brings people through the door. If someone walks into a club or bar with Amplify hanging from the ceiling or walls, they will instantly associate their location with being original and above standard. Amplify is captivating and has a lasting effect. It is something I would tell my friends about and want them to experience for themselves. From a club or bar owner’s standpoint this means returning customers and new customers. Positive word of mouth is great free marketing that can be very valuable. Restaurant owners can benefit from Amplify too. Even though product and price are the main factors success, what customers are looking at while they eat is important too. In a bright casual restaurant Amplify can take on the role of being a decoration rather than being a light source. It is both a great conversation starter and pleasure to look at. Inside a more upscale and darker restaurant, Amplify can help set the mood of a romantic meal.
